My Yamaha R1-carbed, 20/22 Hybrid-in-a-73 Celica sort-of-a-lemons-car-sort-of-not LIVES!
(that picture is coming back from the exhaust shop)
Its a bit too ragged to bring to the Dream Cruise, sadly, though. I will be there later today!
Some things:
It sounds fantastic.
Turn signals don’t work properly.
Brake lights don’t all work properly when the lights are on.
it stops....eventually.
with all the rust you get hit by debris from the road driving it around.
BUT IT RUNS.
Special thanks to roommate Tohru. He spent many a late night figuring out stuff on the car and helping out. Couldn’t have done it without you.
And now, for a short startup video.

Temporarily close off the rust holes with Gorilla Tape. Problem solved.

As much as I wanted to, it’s just too much of a gamble. No tuning, barely any brakes, no sense risking this engine because another one will be hard to find.

Hold on - is it using just the carbs out of a bike, or the entire engine?

Nice :) i like the hybrid motor too, it’s cool sticking the beat bits of two motors together to maje something better than either :) big fan of ra22 celicas as wrll. Great looking cars :)
Out of interest, how mich power are you looking at from your 20/22 hybrid?
